I‘m incredibly grateful and excited that Omega Ensemble and The Australian Voices recently premiered my Requiem-Recomposed, an original composition inspired by the content and circumstances of Mozart’s last work.

Holy shit (heilige Scheiße) it was really fun meeting Carolin Kebekus (psycho German Comedian) on Pussy Terror (yes, that’s the title of her TV show) . She crashed my Mendelssohn rehearsal with WDR Funkhausorchester to learn how to play/mangle different instruments... 🎻🎺🎵🎼 Actually she was very good at conducting!

Can I just emphasize that she says at the start I could have been an underwear model… 👙(“what went wrong?”). Shoutout to my new fans from the German gay community who have reached out since the air date.🌈 🌈 🌈

Jónsi (of Sigur Rós fame) and partner Alex Somers released a static ambient duo album in 2009 Riceboy Sleeps that has captured cult status for itself. American orchestra ninja David Handler orchestrated the thing, and together we performed it live in Hobart with Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra at Dark MOFO (Australia’s loosest festival).

I was thrilled to work with Cologne Electro-Duo dyrtbyte together with the WDR Funkhausorchester. Philipp and Aram created all of the arrangements themselves. The program opens with my ‘482 Variations on a Very Short Theme’.

Danzón Cubano is my new album with the Marialy Pacheco Trio and the gorgeous WDR Funkhausorchester (Cologne). The program is mostly compositions of the extraordinary Cuban pianist Marialy Pacheco, some of which I arranged. The album opens with my piece ‘Baby Steps First’, a wildly-energetic re-imagining of John Coltrane’s iconic ‘Giant Steps’. The concert was recorded for broadcast by West German Radio (WDR) at the Viersen Jazz Festival, and it’s this live recording that’s now been released on the NeuKlang label. Thanks to all my friends from WDR and the trio for a great result!

This is so cool! Thanks to the mighty Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and ABC Education! There is an art competition around my piece ‘The Ugly Sound’, based on the Ugly Duckling story. I‘m so excited to see what students and schools create around this!

It was a great pleasure and honour to have conducted WDR Funkhausorchester with Marialy Pacheco Trio on 'Danzón Cubano': music for jazz trio and orchestra (I arranged some of the music). We had an open rehearsal at the Kölner Philharmonie and the concert took place at the International Jazz Festival Viersen.

It was a great honour to be invited to the North Rhine-Westphalia Landesmusikrat 'Brückenklang' project. I had a very special & unforgettable experience with the Syrian refugee poet Mahmudjamil Homidan who wrote text for my piece ‘Afiki ya dimashqu’ (‘Damascus, erwache!’).

The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra under Hamish McKeich recently recorded my piece 'Snap' (the first movement from my 'Symphony With Just One Theme'). Wonderful cellist Sue-Ellen Paulson playing the solo. Thanks TSO!
