Brückenklang... Building Musical Bridges

It was a great honour to be invited to the North Rhine-Westphalia Landesmusikrat 'Brückenklang' project. I had a very special & unforgettable experience with the Syrian refugee poet Mahmudjamil Homidan who wrote text for my piece ‘Afiki ya dimashqu’ (‘Damascus, erwache!’). The piece is built out of a the Bach chorale 'Jesu, meine Freude' combined with Mahmudjamil's poem, sung in Arabic and German. The premiere took place today at the RomanEUm Neuss in Germany. Thanks to the wonderful generous choirs who participated!
